The Real Reason for the One Piece Manga’s Two Week Break

As it turns out, Oda is on break to support the One Piece live-action and not the manga.

The official One Piece account has clarified that Eiichiro Oda has taken a break to do research for Season 2 of the live-action One Piece and not the manga’s Elbaph Arc.

However, there will a special project from Oda for One Piece fans while the hiatus is ongoing, the details of which have yet to be announced.

This means that Oda will be in South Africa, the filming location, and he will even share souvenirs that he received from the filming set.

Some users on Twitter have commented that the move to do research for the live-action and not the manga makes sense since Oda already had his plans set for the Final Saga and might have been more prepared than fans who reacted to his break have realized.

Others have commented on Twitter that the break could compromise the pace and even quality of the One Piece manga

However, the angle of “researching for the live-action” is somewhat unheard of for a mangaka of an ongoing series as that would usually be taken care of by the staff.

This could indicate a greater level of involvement and commitment to the success of the live-action adaptation, especially in realizing the grandeur of Oda’s storytelling.

The One Piece manga is currently on break and will return with Chapter 1131 on November 11, 2024.
