Griffith Begins The Invasion on Kushan! Berserk Chapter 377 Spoilers!
Berserk returns after a 6 month hiatus and the emergence of Rakshas into Kushan territory signals his end at the hands of Guts and the start of Griffith’s attack on Eastern Lands.
In the previous Berserk chapter, we finally enter a new part of the Fantasia Arc after nearly 15 years as we enter the land of Kushan, which intends to mobilize against Griffith’s Falconia.
Berserk Chapter 377 is titled “The Viper in his Bosom”
This chapter has 25 pages, including the color page.
The cover of Young Animal Magazine Issue 21/2024 features a colored Silat, the leader of the Bakiraka and an incumbent ruler of the new Kushan Empire
The color page features the same colored Silat but with the rest of the Bakiraka, which shows how much Studio Gaga’s art quality has improved.

The chapter begins with Isidro and Puck panicking at the sight of a war elephant, since they are Europeans who have only encountered elephants as exotic monsters from the East.
Rickert calms the boys down and explains that the elephants are actually tame and useful to people.
We then have an aerial view of the city, which last chapter clearly resembles Istanbul.
We see the people here, who are quite well-drawn.
Rickert tells the group of Midlanders and witches that everyone in Kushan are comrades who put aside their differences in terms of color and language, creating a diverse image of humanity.
The archmage Gedfring remarks that because of the kindness of their hosts, the immigrant band of witches and humans should live as Kushans.
Although the group of witches live as foreigners in a land that feels like a whole other world, Gedfring reminds them that the island of Skellig remains in their hearts even after it has vanished since Griffith’s entry into their plane.
Morda hops on her broom and flies around the city,
Meanwhile, Farnese intends to go back to Schierke, who is still unconscious as she used Astral Projection to enter Guts’ mind in the last chapter.
Serpico informs Rickert that Magnifico, Farnese’s older brother, will be staying with him.
Suddenly, the soldiers of Kushan stand their ground as a grand procession arrives.
Silat explains to Roderick that the man in the procession is the Kushan Emperor and the one to preside the Kurultai.
After Ganishka’s death, the Kushan Empire organized a Kurultai, based on the real-life gathering of Mongol khans to select the khagan or great khan and create new state policies.
Kushan is actually a multi-state, multi-ethnic Empire filled with people from different clans and races.
This does explain the intense court life Ganishka went through as a prince and Emperor.
It is possible that Ganishka and by extension his dynasty, maintained a strong grip on power and prevented Kurultai from meeting up.
Silat brings up how this was the case under Ganishka’s reign but with him gone, the leaders hope that the same mistakes will not repeat and that there will be no tyrant that will disregard the will of the Kurultai.
They will also use this meeting to discuss their military strategy in dealing with Falconia, their answer to the rise of the demonic Apostles in the Physical World.
This is all timely according to Roderick, given the Great Wave of the Astral World has brought forth unexpected waves of change and all of this began with the death of the Kushan Emperor himself.
As they enter the Palace where the Kurultai gather, Roderick notes that the Kushan still have not changed in terms of their strength and ferocity as a war land and as such, Roderick’s party feels as if they are still within an enemy encampment instead of a friendly territory ruled by humans who oppose the Apostles.
The new Emperor begins the Kurultai
Daiba has a bad feeling about this Kurultai, which Silat agrees.
The tribal leader from the north speaks up, who says that while this Kurultai is a first since Ganishka’s reign and thus an important historic step, he discriminates against the inclusion of “certain groups”, directing his gaze at Silat and revealing that Silat is the leader of the disgraced Bakiraka clan, which causes everyone in the room to mutter about their disdain for the clan.
Another leader steps forward to remind the Kurultai that the Kushan Empire is made up of different cultures and is thus not a place for discrimination.
Daiba then explains to the Kushan Kurultai about what really happened in Ganishka’s campaign in Midland, including the Daka, the Apostles and Ganishka’s demonic experimentation that led to him becoming the Shiva-like idiot god.
This news causes everyone, including the Emperor, to express great disbelief.
This moves Silat to implore the Emperor to appoint him as the general for the war against the Hawk but the northern leader puts Silat on the spot, warning the assembly of the treachery fo the Bakiraka.
Some the leaders notice black spikes emerging from the northern leader’s body, which turns out to be the matter on the Apostle Rakshas’ body
Daiba senses the Apostle’s demonic energy as the northern leader’s body explodes in their midst.
While in their quarters, Farnese senses something off and heads for the direction of Guts’ cell.
Meanwhile, Guts’ Brand of Sacrifice bleeds profusely and Guts himself awakens and smiles maniacally, something he has not expressed since his days hunting Apostles.
Rakshas emerges from the man’s body, with the right side of his mask broken.
Rakshas had actually trailed Rickert’s Band of Kushans after Rickert blasted him with a rocket in Chapter 341: “Soaring Escape” (which was published 9 years ago).
This means that Rakshas found a Kushan leader in his trail and rode him as a way to reach the Kurultai and towards his prey.
Rakshas was a former Bakiraka member, which explains his demeanor and this is where Rakshas will meet his end, likely at the hands of Guts.
Berserk Chapter 378 will be released on November 8, 2024.
