Nagi and Barou Win the Match! Isagi’s Phantom Looms Over the Blue Lock Spinoff! Blue Lock Episode Nagi Chapter 31 Spoilers!
It is incredible how Isagi’s phantom represents his sheer presence in the Blue Lock spinoff even without being in the main cast.
In the previous Blue Lock Episode Nagi chapter, Nagi and Barou work together as they prepare to make the goal that seals this match.
Blue Lock Episode Nagi Chapter 31 is titled, “Phantom”
This chapter has 38 pages.
The skull and lion auras flow above Nagi and Barou respectively as Karasu, Otoya and Kiyora surround them before they reach the goal.
Nagi and Barou both declare their intent to defeat Isagi.
Nagi passes the ball to Barou, who takes the ball before Kiyora can get close.
Barou then passes the ball back to Nagi, who maneuvers the ball away from Otoya before shooting it to Barou’s direction.
With the ball, Barou heads for the goal and Karasu stands in his way.
Facing off with tense stares, Barou and Karasu clash for the ball, represented by their Lion and Crow auras.
Before Kiyora can reach the ball, Barou kicks the ball, aiming for the roof of the goal.
Suddenly, Isagi appears in the very middle of the shot, much to Barou’s shock.
This is impossible as he is not in the game at all.
Barou identifies this as Isagi’s phantom, who beckons Barou to come to him.
Barou realizes he is seeing this because he is chasing after his nemesis.
Realizing his efforts are not enough to surpass Isagi, Barou uses a chop kick to send the ball as a pass instead of making a goal.
Nagi heads for the ball, with Otoya getting in his way.
With a direct lift heel, Nagi makes the ball curve behind Otoya, who identifies this as an ultra-tier trap move, as Nagi passes by Otoya and moves for the goal.
The three opponents are amazed by Nagi, praising him as a prodigy.
But Nagi is not content with this effort and imagines Isagi’s phantom, with puzzle pieces forming his body, trying to go after him and say not to look down on soccer.
Leaping over Isagi’s phantom, Nagi clashes with the imagined threat and kicks the ball hard on the ground, making it bounce.
Barou wonders if Nagi feels Isagi’s phantom as well.
Nagi finally finds his footing literally, and his pleasure for the game.
Fired up and with the ball in position, Nagi kicks the ball, his skull aura firing a cannon, and makes the goal!
The art for the next five double pages looks fantastic as we feel the impact of Nagi’s goal kick hitting the net.
In arguably the most iconic double-page spread of the whole chapter, we see Isagi’s phantom vanish as Barou makes a thumbs down while Nagi points at the former.
This is incredibly good visualization as on the top left corner of the panel, we see the score.
5-4 in favor of Team White (Nagi’s team)
The thumbs-down just fits with the score alignment perfectly.
The battle between the rival teams of four has ended.
