Boruto is the New Minato! Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16 Spoilers!
Boruto is the second coming of Minato just from accidentally discovering his grandfather’s legendary technique.
In the previous Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter, Gaara is sealed by Shinki for safety, even while Shinki becomes the basis for a new Sentient God Tree. To stop the God Trees, Boruto joins forces with Kawaki.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16 titled: “The Fated Point of Singularity”
This chapter has 41 pages.
The colored chapter cover features Eida in a yellow background and yellow blouse.
The cover is unique from other Boruto covers in that it is presented like a fashion magazine with the caption: “Love looks not with the mind but with the eyes”.
The right-side text reads: To rescue Gaara, Konohamaru heads to the village hidden in the Sand! At that time, What will Eida do?
Boruto Learns the Flying Thunder God Technique
On the first page, we see this Editor’s note: Time rewinds to after the encounter with Kashin Koji… The secret behind the birth of Boruto’s Flying Thunder God is revealed!!!
The chapter begins in what appears to be a flashback as Kashin Koji gives an in-depth explanation of Space-Time Ninjutsu, which has not been shown to be properly trained or taught in the series unlike most ninjutsu.
Koji explains that Space-Time Ninjutsu has the ability to move any object, whether it is the self or other persons or things, to any location of the user’s choosing.
Koji reveals that the natural flight ability of the Otsutsuki is one application of Space-Time Ninjutsu as it is able to move the self to another location.
Although a godly ability that no ordinary shinobi outside those who use the Earth Style: Lightweight Boulder Jutsu, such as the Third Kazekage Onoki.
Koji reveals to Boruto that he had done Space-Time Ninjutsu before as “outbursts”, which were the Karma Rifts activated through the Karma or the resonance with Kawaki’s Karma.
However, Koji reveals that through Ten Directions, he saw Boruto mastering Space-Time Ninjutsu within six years.
Koji explains how Boruto’s Flying Thunder God Jutsu works: Boruto assigns his chakra to select ninja tools
This is actually the basic premise of the Flying Thunder God Jutsu, where the user marks an object or location with the technique formula for fast transportation.
However, through Koji’s explanation, it is shown that Boruto does not produce any formula markings but rather leaves residual chakra for Boruto to track even from afar.
This results in Boruto turning his original Karma Rift teleportation into a “ninjutsu that allows free and unrestrained movement”.
This is how Koji will teach Boruto the Flying Thunder God Jutsu, the technique of his grandfather, the Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze.
We see Ikemoto’s rendering of Minato, which makes his eyes slightly bigger and certainly quite different from Kishimoto’s take.
However, Koji notes that Boruto actually discovered the technique in his own terms, never having even heard of Minato’s Flying Thunder God technique and they both even arrived at the same name.
Boruto feels the pressure of being a genius.
What Kishimoto and Ikemoto are trying to do here is to set a parallel between Boruto and Minato.
Kashin Koji is Jiraiya’s clone and Minato is Jiraiya’s student.
Minato also uncovered the Flying Thunder God Technique, which was created by the Second Hokage Tobirama Senju, and the Rasengan based on Tailed Beast Ball in his own terms.
Koji notes that any Ninja tool will work as the medium for teleportation and the teleportation becomes more accurate when the tool is visible and within Boruto’s range.
This means unlike the original Flying Thunder God Jutsu, Boruto cannot teleport quite far as easily as Minato and Tobirama can.
For example, if Boruto throws one shuriken to the north and one to the south, if he just senses it from afar, he will not know whether he will go to the northern or southern one.
If there is only one medium, the teleportation will be much easier but that means Boruto will not be able to use the Flying Thunder God technique to its fullest potential.
To circumvent the distance issue, Boruto in the future considered the use of “shapes”.
Each “shape” represents a specific figure in the user’s mind to allow for teleportation even from greater distances.
However, this requires higher levels of concentration so that Boruto can become familiar with the object in his mind and thus be able to teleport from afar.
Koji reminds him that this knowledge was acquired by a different Boruto for six years without Koji’s intervention yet he is able to get the knowledge in a few minutes.
This saves a lot of time but this also means Boruto will need to train even harder than his alternate future self.
Practicing some tree climbing for chakra control, Boruto commits to this training.
Singularity: Why Boruto Chose Not to Reveal Future Knowledge
In the old Orochimaru hideout, Boruto tells Koji that it would be better to inform everyone about the different possibilities since there is a good and a bad future.
Koji points out that, yes, people will be more likely to understand a situation better and thus alter the future.
However, this also means creating new, unforeseen futures that will become more and complex to deal with, meaning that their greatest advantage, the Ten Directions, will be rendered somewhat meaningless.
Koji also notes that people who have foresight of the future would be deviating the path set out by “destiny” and are thus a “heretical existence” that destabilizes the future.
In other words, a singularity.
Therefore, Boruto and Koji, as fated points of singularity, will have to keep their knowledge of the future a secret and move forward to usher in a good future.
As they are talking, Koji directs to Eida and asks her to join them as a “fated point of singularity” since he knows Eida is or will be viewing their whole conversation, as if this was done not just for Boruto’s sake but especially for Eida, who has the Senrigan that views the past and present in its completeness.
Girl Talk with Sarada and Sumire
In the present, Eida learns of this past memory.
Sarada asks about what Eida has found out.
Eida does not reveal the truth but instead tells Sarada and Sumire that Boruto has his reasons for not speaking with anyone to avoid unnecessary harm upon any of them, especially Sarada and Sumire, the only non-Otsutsuki immune to Omnipotence.
However, Sarada worries that Boruto is carrying all of this on himself and asks for Boruto’s location.
Sumire tells Sarada that Boruto might not want to be located because he wants to keep his loved ones ignorant of what he is doing, which would allow them not to worry and to do whatever they like in the village.
It just so happens that Sarada and Sumire hold a privileged position, akin to Boruto and Koji as singularities of fate.
Sumire suggests that their part is not to interfere with Boruto.
However, Sarada is still worried about her former teammate since if nothing else was done, he would have been killed by Jura’s sentient God Trees.
Sumire asks Sarada to consider Boruto’s feelings, with the implication that Sarada might not be thinking as much about Boruto’s feelings in this situation.
Sumire makes Sarada realize that Boruto does not actively want this situation by his own choice and to keep everything to himself feels painful.
Sumire also points out that Sarada should understand her perspective since Sumire likes Boruto.
Sumire thinks Sarada is inconsiderate of their friendship since upon seeing Boruto, Sarada immediately flew into his arms to hug him in front of her.
Sumire intended to understand Sarada’s feelings over not seeing Boruto for years and missing him but Sumire asks if Sarada ever considered how Sumire felt at that time, watching all of this.
Eida points out how awkward this situation is yet she seems to be enjoying this situation, loving the subtle cat fight between the two girls.
Embarrassed from being honest, Sumire apologizes to Sarada and runs off. Sarada tries to stop her but Sumire asks her how long Sarada will continue to call Sumire “Class Prez”, which would indicate a slight distance between the two girls.
Eida contacts Shikamaru and calls for a discussion with him.
Shikamaru and Eida Know About Kashin Koji
Meanwhile the two elders, Homura Mitokado and Koharu Utatane, receive a message from the Daimyo of the Land of Fire, who is disappointed in the escape made by Boruto Otsutsuki.
Keep in mind that the Daimyo, Ikkyū Madoka, is a personal friend of Seventh Hokage Naruto, and he might have been upset not only for security reasons but also because he believed Boruto killed his friend.
The elders downplay the escape as the loss of only one or two rogue ninja but the Fire Daimyo threatens them, saying that if Boruto is not caught or killed, someone else will be killed in his place, signifying how serious the death of Naruto is to the Land of Fire and possibly to the entire Shinobi world, considering he was the strongest ninja in the era and the hero of the Fourth Great Ninja War, essentially the man who started the New Era.
Homura promises that they will take every possibly measure to deal with the situation.
Hmmm, one wonders if these old fossils have someone that could take care of Boruto, maybe a revival of Danzo’s Foundation?
Meanwhile Shikamaru comes face to face with Eida in her place, with Shikamaru noting that the gears in his brain get rusty every time they meet, which Eida teases him as cute or rather indicates that this makes Shikamaru easier to talk to if he has to be more considerate of her.
Shikamaru asks about the status of the Hidden Sand Village and Eida reveals the existence of Ryu, the God Tree copy of Shinki, who is after Gaara.
Eida mentions that Ryu can undo the Magnet Iron Grain Seal Palm since it was Shinki’s jutsu.
Shikamaru intends to prepare a quick mission for the Sand to rescue Gaara but Eida warns Shikamaru that this is footage she has viewed from a few hours ago and not in real time, meaning they are not sure if they will be able to reach Gaara in time.
Eida reveals that Bug’s God Tree, Mamushi, is somehow able to detect Eida whenever she uses the Senrigan, which made her frightened and go pale,
This is exactly what went down in Chapter 5: “Target”, where Mamushi declared Eida his target after sensing her presence.
This also means that the sentient God Trees know about the Senrigan in the Leaf.
Eida later brings up about Shikamaru changing his mind about trying to apprehend and kill Boruto.
Eida saw that Shikamaru was using Mitsuki earlier to help Boruto escape.
Shikamaru feigns ignorance but Eida promises not to tell anyone else in the Leaf since losing Shikamaru’s protection would be inconvenient for her and out of concern for Boruto.
Page 28 is the second sneak peek released on November 18, 2024, where Eida informs Shikamaru about Kawaki’s alliance with Boruto and Shikamaru reveals that Koji is still alive and is acting as Boruto’s secret ally.
Shikamaru Knows about Kashin Koji! Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16 Sneak Peek 2!
Suddenly, the frog comes out from Eida’s hair, telling Shikamaru about the gist of the situation and requests for him not to ask any questions.
Koji requests Shikamaru to only dispatch Konahamaru Sarutobi, Sarada Uchiha and Mitsuki to the Land of Wind.
Shikamaru worries about the presence of Ryu or Matsuri but Koji does admit that both of them might show up but assures Shikamaru that the three will work well with the two shinobi (Araya and Yodo) from the Sand.
Shikamaru insists on a good reason for the selection of the three shinobi but Koji reminds him not to ask questions and that Shikamaru will have to come up with a plausible excuse himself if ever they refuse to take the mission.
Koji also tells Shikamaru not to let Himawari leave the Leaf since she is being targeted by Jura and that would bring her to certain death.
However, Jura has judged the Leaf’s culture to be of high value to him and is reluctant to cause any destruction within the village premises.
This means Himawari is safest inside the village.
With Jura’s interest in the Leaf’s culture and knowledge, Koji tells Shikamaru that if Jura does come back to check out a bookstore, everyone must treat Jura as if he were their number one customer.
The most important thing is to not provoke Jura as in the event he does attack, their chances are just one in a million.
No one in the entire Boruto universe has the strength to deal with the walking incarnation of the Ten Tails.
Eida suggests that they deal with the other sentient God Trees with the smallest force possible but not encounter Jura himself as he has more power than every single one of them combined.
After this, Koji’s frog leaps from Eida’s body but thanks Shikamaru for his help, even if belated.
Shikamaru went against the rules of the system and of his village to fight for what he believed was the right path, so Koji tells Shikamaru he will not force him to do anything else for the sake of the future.
Koji leaves it off, saying that Shikamaru should continue to follow his heart.
The frog leaves the premises while Shikamaru takes a cigarette.
Eida thinks about Koji’s words. To follow her heart.
This could have implications on Eida’s feelings for Kawaki and how to confront Kawaki about his actions in the future.
Back in her home, Sumire thinks about why she let out her feelings about Boruto’s situation to Sarada.
The Mission to the Land of Wind
Now in the Land of Wind after some time, Konohamaru is accompanied by Sarada and Mitsuki.
Page 38 is actually the first sneak peek released in November 14, 2024, where Konohamaru encounters Araya and Yodo and is welcomed into the Land of Wind.
Konohamaru Looks for Gaara and Shinki! Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 16 Sneak Peek.
The group look for the coordinates of the old hideout where Gaara is currently sealed and hide in the sand in case Ryu or Matsuri are around.
Araya notices Sarada’s outfit is more tomboyish than it was when they last met.
Sarada’s outfit takes after Boruto after all.
Suddenly, Konohamaru spots the two sentient God Trees staring down at a fallen frog.
The two see this as their clue to finding Boruto.
Editor’s note: “The Leaf and the Sand face off against two Shinju with hidden powers that know no bounds.”
