This chapter shows us the endings of most of the surviving cast from Takaba to Higurama but leaves one door open for a new or old foe causing trouble.

In the previous chapter, we learned about Yuta’s return to his original body, how the Sukuna raiders were able to use Simple Domain without drawbacks, the evil binding vow behind it, and Mei-mei’s extermination of the New Shadow School head to prevent all-out war.

Here are Jujutsu Kaisen chapter spoilers courtesy of Myth and translations from TL-kun.

Chapter 270 is titled, “Dream’s End”

The chapter is 19 pages long.

The title evokes some ideas but the closest one that fits the story is probably in connection to the title of Chapter 11: A Dream:  Gojo’s dream to reset Jujutsu society, which is exactly what has happened.

We begin the chapter in a cemetery where Megumi and Shoko Ieiri visit a grave.

Shoko seems to be wearing a different fit from her lab coat and doctor aesthetic, almost resembling her friend Suguru Geto with the bun on her hair.

This seems to be Tsumiki’s grave as the name of the tombstone is “Fushiguro”, indicating it is the Fushiguro family gravestone.

This is probably timely as Megumi recently learned that Gojo killed his father Toji.

No one except the deceased Naobito also knew that Megumi has also met his father but in a reincarnated form.

Although Megumi is giving flowers for his dearly departed stepsister, who was the vessel of Yorozu and killed for Sukuna’s Bath, this is overall a tribute for Megumi’s family now that he is the only Fushiguro left.

Shoko is around to help him with preparing Tsumiki’s body, even though she personally does not believe in the afterlife.

Megumi wishes that his stepsister looked beautiful even as she is being cremated and Shoko is glad to help out, though she was wondering why Gojo did not leave her to take care of Geto’s body.

Speaking of, where is Geto’s body now that Kenjaku is gone?

When the two leave, Megumi receives a call.

We learn that among the remnants of Sukuna retrieved from Megumi’s body was the cursed womb of Tengen that is now firmly entangled.

Kyoto Jujutsu High Principal Yoshinobu Gakuganji leads a team with Utahime and the manager Akari Nitta

With these remains, Utahime believes that Tengen’s barrier will be stabilized for a while longer.

Tengen is the founder of Jujutsu society and they are responsible for maintaining the barrier that isolates the cursed energy phenomenon within Japan, otherwise the entire world would be full of curses.

This very system was used by Kenjaku to create the Culling Game, which made Tengen its gamemaster.

With Tengen’s death, the stability of these barriers, which kept the world safe from curses, is in question.

However, Gakuganji tells them not to rush as they are still young.

The man was kind all along.

Meanwhile, Maki gives a real sword at Hagane Daido, who is with Rokujushi Miyo.

In the pair’s introduction in Chapter 195, the reincarnated Daido was pursuing a sword due to his past as a warrior and overall obsession with them.

Maki explains that the Incarnated Players are helping repair the fallout of the Culling Games and that Hana Kurusu and Yuji are helping remove the cursed objects from the vessels so that the latter could live normal lives.

Maki also brings up the need to take care of the American soldiers deployed by the US government in Chapter 200

Furthermore, Maki explains that even though the Culling Games are over, Tokyo is still an inviolable area since the existence of cursed spirits was publicly announced as “something that only appears in Tokyo” but there are still curses all over the country.

Maki suggests that the pair hide here, which Daido is fine with but Miyo finds sumo with cursed spirits to be boring.

Maki leaves the two reincarnates alone, no longer feeling obligated to protect them.

Daigo offers to challenge Maki when she decides to erase him, which Maki finds amusing.

Amidst their conversation, Charles Bernard appears, proclaiming the greatness of printed manga.

A lot of people made the obvious point that Charles is the Kishibe Rohan of the Jujutsu Kaisen universe and this is clearly Gege Akutami’s self-insert talking to his viewers right now about an update or about his work life.

Charles says that newbies should at least once experience working by the side of a veteran creator but his editor in the flashback notes that Charles has bad experience, with Charles noting that his art quality is bad.

Hmmm…Gege Akutami is quite self-aware.

Alternatively, this could also be a hint that we are about to get a sequel manga.

Perhaps he is suggesting that someone else will be making their debut through a second Jujutsu Kaisen story, similar to how the Naruto and Dragon Ball sequels were made.

The editor reminds Charles that the printers do not have much patience to wait on even a new author’s one-shot.

A one-shot? Hey, Akutami are we getting a new one-shot?

Sounds like a Tite Kubo thing to do.

Bleach ended in 2017 but in 2022 for the 20th anniversary of the manga, Kubo wrote the sequel one-shot “Breathes from Hell” showing the beginning of a supposed new Hell Arc for the Bleach manga.

Perhaps we might be getting something like that as Akutami’s “happy announcement”

Here is quite an interesting page as in a restaurant, we see Fumihiko Takaba talking about working on comedy material together with someone, mentioning the importance of dirty humor.

Takaba seems to be with someone that looks almost familiar.

While his face is clearly intentionally obscured by the speech bubble, the body resembles the late Suguru Geto.

Kenjaku was distracted and killed during his comedy battle with Takaba, where Kenjaku was clearly having the time of his life.

Kenjaku’s Culling Games were motivated by curiosity but this distraction seems to have been the most fun he has ever had in a thousand years.

The second person reminds Takaba not to be too loud mentioning that they will be practicing their routines while Takaba tells his companion to pay for the meal today.

To recap, Takaba’s cursed technique is Comedian, which turns anything that Takaba finds funny into reality.

Could it be that Takaba revived Kenjaku as a comedy partner through this reality-warping cursed technique?

Sounds like a Wandavision twist, with Wanda returning the evil witch Agatha Harkness into the TV sitcom Westview citizen Agnes.

This means that the battle with Kenjaku made Takaba so confident that he has warped reality to this extent.

This could mean that he might be the most powerful sorcerer in existence, unless someone makes Takaba doubt his talents.

Amai, Yuji’s childhood friend, apologizes to someone for something that happened in the past.

This takes up three pages. Oh dear.

Back in interesting stuff, Higurama seems to be pressured by Jujutsu Headquarters to work as a sorcerer, which he shares with his female lawyer friend.

Hold on, why is he telling a normal human about this?

The Angel brings up how Sukuna has dug up memories of Hana from Megumi’s mind, which makes Hana embarrassed about exposing her feelings to the possessed Megumi in Chapter 213, the time she lost her right arm to Sukuna.

Megumi tells Hana that he will take responsibility for the loss of her right arm.

The pages frame this like a love confession since Hana has feelings for Megumi, feelings that Sukuna exploited.

Now I am wondering if Megumi was aware of these feelings, considering that Sukuna used them to nearly kill her that time.

Remember how Sukuna phrased it while pretending to be Megumi.

“I remember now.”

He was sifting through Megumi’s memories about Hana, which were likely from the flashback in Chapter 210.

However, Megumi clarifies that this is not meant to be in a romantic sense and that he will be out on a mission later.

AND we still do not know the full deal behind Angel.

Later, we see a woman come home, talking to her fiance about dinner plans and to her shock, she sees his face being distorted, with huge eyes

Ichiji tells Yuji and Megumi about this situation, citing that the victim is Fukuzawa Souta, a 26 year old man living with his fiance who somehow saw a change to his face two weeks ago.

However, there seems to be nothing wrong with his appearance.

Souta looks like a wrestling trainee and not a cursed hobbit-like creature with eyes half the size of his face.

This means that the woman herself is the one who is cursed, so Nobara has her turn around for a while.

The last page shows Yuji and Megumi discussing a seemingly low-level curse user harassing the neighborhood.

Ichiji mentions that there is a low chance that this being is a cursed spirit, so it is probably a curse user or a semi first-grade cursed spirit that is able to hide his malicious intent

Yuji is confident that with the three of them, they could beat them.

This could the last Culling Game player active or a mystery that concludes the Jujutsu Kaisen story.

Editor’s note: “The Last Mission. Itadori and co against the harrassing curse user…

Next issue is the last chapter!!

Next issue a supersized Center Color Page!!”

The chapter is bizarre as it acts as the epilogue to show where the cast is headed.

Last chapter, we wrapped up a rather big loose end all at once: by explaining the full scope of the New Shadow Style: Simple Domain, Akutami has also concluded the current Jujutsu politics taking place as Mei-mei killed the New Shadow’s head to prevent a sudden takeover from yet another immortal mastermind.

Chapter 269 was great for showing the characters discussing their regrets.

However, once again, we are left with the feeling that something is missing.

While there are no clocks this time, the previous two chapters gave some interesting focus on them that fueled Gojo copium, as our theory article explains.

Now we are finally headed to the last chapter.

There will be no break next week.

One more time.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 271, the final chapter, will be released on September 30, 2024.
