In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, Chihiro and Hiruhiko begin their rematch while Iori makes a crucial decision.

Chapter 69 is titled, “The Man With Scars”

This chapter has 19 pages.

The chapter begins where we left off but we see Moku complain about being frozen and Roku informing him that Chihiro went to get the key and that Yojiro, the hotel manager, has been killed.

Iori remarks that it is not the Masumi’s fault but before she could finish her sentence, Kuguri appears from the elevator, with Rou intercepting him and Sumi covering Iori.

The rooftop is now surrounded by mobsters but they look different as they take lethal hits but still keep attacking him.

Moku wonders if there is a Hishaku with a brainwashing ability like how the Datenseki fodder during the Temple attack were controlled.

Rou remarks that Kuguri is getting more hooligans because they are in a hurry, just like the Masumi are to seal Iori’s memories.

The zombie mobsters demand for the daughter of Samura.

Sumi stands to protect Iori, assuring her that no one will lay a finger on her.

Iori worries that the Masumi will throw their lives for her, that there is always someone getting hurt because of her exist.

Whatever truth (normal life or Samura’s daughter) she chooses, Iori thinks it would be better if she was not around.

We cut to a flashback from Chapter 62: “Iori”, as Ikura asks Chihiro about what happened to Iori.

Chihiro tells the boy that Iori is being targeted by an organization and Chihiro’s team is assigned to protect her, so he tells Ikura to stay away.

Ikura ignores this and walks the dangerous streets of Kyoto.

Spotting Toto, Ikura heads towards the Kyoto Massacre Hotel, where he knew there would be criminal organizations and he was right as he hides behind a couch when he witnesses Hiruhiko fight Yojiro.

While panting heavily out of fear, Ikura would also overhear the mob sending reinforcement to the upper floors, with the mention of a “daughter”, which means Iori is up there.

We see that this is where Ikura is right now and he recalls another flashback after talking to Chihiro, where the school nurse mends the wound caused by the glass shards from Kuguri’s entry and tells Ikura to let the authorities take care of this.

Then within that flashback is another flashback as one of Iori’s female classmates talks about how Iori has to sit next to Ikura and calls Ikura gross for being crazy and spitting while speaking as well.

Ikura overhears this conversation and takes the insults as a loner but Iori suddenly approaches him, greeting him gently.

We see why Ikura is moved to rescue Iori because she was his first real friend in school, the one to break his loneliness.

Ikura realizes that Iori is the type of person who does not discriminate those she meets but their first conversation was a precious memory to him.

With the blood from his wound, he draws a X-shaped scar on his left cheek similar to Chihiro’s.

We cut to the fight between Chihiro and Hiruhiko but Ikura stumbles into it, with Chihiro asking why he is here.

It seems Hiruhiko is mad that Ikura is interrupting them.

Chihiro asks Ikura why he is endangering himself but Ikura declares that he does not care if his body is full of scars.

Bothered by the intruder, Hiruhiko goes after him but Chihiro blocks his swing.

Chihiro throws Ikura the key, which is his reply to Ikura’s resolve, and tells the boy to bring it to the rooftop, to Rou, the kid with sunglasses.

Ikura takes the elevator and we return to the start of the chapter as Ikura is on the rooftop, calling out to Iori, saying that he would be in big trouble if not for her.

Now Iori has found her answer through Ikura’s words.
As the mob gathers towards Ikura, blood splatters in front of his face.

In front of him was Iori Samura, daughter of Seiichi Samura, with a sword in hand to defend him.

What skills will she show in this moment?
