In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, we see how Samura left his daughter after they experience the fallout of a single bad rumor.

Kagurabachi Chapter 74 is titled, “Dawn”.

This chapter is 19 pages.

Editor’s note: “Volume 7 releasing May 2nd! Be on the lookout!”

We cut to black as Samura is called on the phone by the Kamunabi regarding the events after Kunishige’s death and the theft of the Enchanted Blades.

Samura hangs up and then the doorbell rings as Yura appears.

Editor note: “Yura, who has now re-appeared after many years.”

As it turns out, Yura murdered the Kamunabi escorts before coming here.

Samura realizes that Yura’s group murdered Rokuhira and Yura introduces Samura to the group, the Hishaku.

Samura wonders if Yura is here to murder him and Yura notes the Hishaku already took care of one, which could refer to Misaka, the original user of Cloud Gorger.

However, Yura clarifies that he is here to negotiate and Samura knows he will be killed for refusing.

Yura insists, saying that the Calamity is coming.

Samura refuses to believe this, saying that the seal on the Shinuchi is enough and wonders if the Hishaku are in fact the ones who will instigate the Malediction.

The Malediction is the ultimate Enchanted Blade extension technique, caused by the Sword Saint’s Magatsumi but rather than produce an animal, the Malediction releases flowers made of Spirit Energy that spread across a wide area and kill up to 200,000 people.

Samura says that the stability would last without Hishaku interference but Yura points out that the previous Malediction left behind flowers.

Usually, when the Enchanted Blade is sheathed, all Spirit Energy effects should dissipate, such as the Malediction flowers, but somehow, there are still remnants within Shokoku Island that bloom, which means that the Sword Saint’s will remains, the desire to kill everything.

Additionally, Yura logically counters Samura’s assurance, that the “stability would have continued” by saying that since the Sword Saint and Shinuchi “surpassed all expectation”, then so would the stability of the seal be at risk of being exceeded.

Samura’s mentality regarding the Shinuchi seal is similar to his mentality regarding the seal on himself and Iori, so it fits.

This belief in stability is precisely the sin of the Enchanted Blade wielders that Yura points out, keeping the Sword Saint alive.

Yura explains his goal: to execute the Sword Saint and wield the Shinuchi.

The Malediction is the True Realm of Shinuchi, drawn precisely because of the Sword Saint, and thus only Yura can stop the Calamity.

Yura asks about Samura’s daughter not being here and then points out that they need more members for the mission to execute the Sword Saint and to provide Samura a chance to repent for his sins.

Samura still does not trust Yura, considering what they did to his friends, but he also refuses to let them do as they please with the Enchanted Blades.

Even if he kills the Hishaku here and now, that would still not stop the Calamity.

The Sword Saint is the trigger for Malediction and one bad move would spell the end of Japan and possibly beyond.

As Yura asks Samura to join him, Samura now resolves to end the problem at the root: the Enchanted Blades themselves.

It was three years after Samura left Iori to her aunt that Kunishige Rokuhira was assassinated and six months after, Rou would accompany Iori to a room where the Masumi set up the lamps for the sealing ritual.

Rou tells Iori that she will no longer be Samura’s daughter.

While she remembers how much pain she suffered as Samura Seiichi’s daughter, Iori also accepted it because as Samura Seiichi’s daughter, she got to be with her father and see her mother’s last smile.

The last memory shown is of her reading Samura’s note:

“I’m sorry I caused you nothing but pain.”

We see a great panel of the present, where Iori fully breaks the seal and sees her memories while Chihiro cuts down Hiruhiko like in Chapter 70.

Toto comes out from the Flame Teleportation, which appears to be a Hishaku signature Sorcery.

As it turns out, Hiruhiko is mostly fine as his sword made the wound shallow, so he asks Toto to get the Enchanted Blade Kumeyuri.

Meanwhile, Chihiro is surprised by Iori’s skill, wondering if she learned it from Samura and Iori says she did but this is her first time with a real blade.

Iori resolves to get stronger so that she can reach out to her father.

Iori stares at the sky and Chihiro explains that her father is responsible for the sky turning dark and resembling an Owl via his Enchanted Blade Tobimune.

Samura has also regained his memories since Iori broke her seal but he cannot track Iori since he is on a mission to slay the Enchanted Blade users.

Iori laments how no matter her efforts, they seem meaningless as she cannot reach her father.

Toto hands over Kumeyuri to Hiruhiko, who wants to settle the score with the Enchanted Blade even at the risk of alerting Samura to them.

Taking off his left glove, Chihiro declares that Iori’s efforts are not meaningless, and so he unsheathes his Enchanted Blade at the same time as Hiruhiko, dispelling the Owl.

The chapter ends in arguably one of the best manga spreads of the year as Samura descends with large black owl wings, meeting the two Enchanted Blade users like a god or angel descending from above to deliver judgment.

Editor’s note: “The skies clear up, and down descends the jet black swordsmanー、a three-fold Enchanted Blade struggle starts here..!”

Kagurabachi Chapter 75 will be released on April 14, 2025.
