Samura HUMILIATES Hiruhiko! Suzaku is Samura’s DEATH FLAG Confirmed! Kagurabachi Chapter 77 Spoilers!
The color page and even Suzaku might suggest that Samura is bound for a tragic death in Kagurabachi’s latest arc.

In the previous Kagurabachi chapter, Samura unleashes his third ability, Vermillion Bird, which heals his fatal injuries.
Kagurabachi Chapter 77 is titled, “Leave the Kids Out of It”
This chapter has 20 pages.
Fitting for the chapter title, we get a color spread featuring three fathers and their children: Seiichi Samura, the father of Iori Samura, Kunishige Rokuhira, the father of Chihiro Rokuhira in the center, and Kyora Sazanami, the father of Hakuri Sazanami.
This might be Samura’s death flag because the last two are already dead.
This could also mean that Iori will be the third protagonist of Kagurabachi to join Hakuri as one of Chihiro’s companions.

Editor’s note: “Who is speaking to who?”
The chapter begins with a man speaking to a painter, Yoshida Kanryuu, praising his painting of a phoenix appearing to give its life to a panicked people.
The phoenix, a bird that bursts into flames to its death yet rises from the ashes, has appeared in various regions, taking on different names, like Suzaku the Vermillion Bird.
However, the painter clarifies that this is no myth but something he witnessed during the Seitei War.
We return to the present as Samura faces off against the obstinate Hiruhiko.
However, Chihiro corrects our expectations as Samura is still blind, with the Phoenix unable to heal him.
Samura teleports behind Chihiro, intent on killing both Hiruhiko and Chihiro.
Although still tripping out from Kumeyuri’s Banquet, Chihiro activates Nishiki and we get a spread of the three swordsmen clashing with each other, the impact of their Enchanted Blades causing the hotel to be cut apart.
It seems more like a part of Samura’s strategy than his old “kill every Enchanted Blade user” mission, counting on Chihiro to dodge.
Before the crumbling hallways, Hiruhiko surmised that Suzaku was able to not only regenerate but also be used offensively by countering the effects of Banquet, which is how Chihiro was able to react with Nishiki.
Hiruhiko wonders if he should use his third ability but says that he is already falling behind, so he will win with numbers via his second ability, Playground.
We see a geisha strum the shamisen as Hiruhiko monologues about how one must understand the structure of an object to master its use.
To toy and respect that object will improve one’s use over it.
Hiruhiko flashes back to when he was three years old when he made his first kill, having used only his teeth to do so.
There was no real meaning to killing for Hiruhiko, so he viewed human lives and objects as the same.
This makes Hiruhiko incompatible with Kumeyuri, which thrives on giving a damn about something.
Samura walks out unscathed, and Hiruhiko pops a blood vessel.
Suddenly, Rou senses something shaking as a gigantic geisha wraps her arms around the hotel, causing the building to come apart.
Corpses fall on Samura and Chihiro, the latter wondering if Hiruhiko intends to crush everyone of them, including himself, to death, using debris and corpses?
While Hiruhiko has no regard for life, he values Chihiro, seeing him as the person who gave his life meaning.
This is the highest of highs for Hiruhoko as he intends to kill Chihiro with both men using their Enchanted Blades.
Hiruhiko observes that Suzaku might be similar to Cloud Gorger’s Mei in terms of having a time limit, so Hiruhiko overwhelms the “immortal Samura” with sheer numbers.
Samura flies off with Crow as the corpses follow.
Hiruhiko also reveals his intention to show his True Realm to him.
In an awesome panel, we see Samura soaring above the tower of corpses, only to fly and cut them down.
The narration explains that Suzaku is the ability to regenerate but also burn oneself, making them like the flaming Phoenix of myth.
However, Samura has evolved this ability to something much more via True Realm.
We return to the painter Yoshida, who revealed that Samura’s flame did not just engulf himself but to those in trouble as he called the flame a form of compassion towards all.
The flames disabled the effects of Kumeyuri, including the manipulation of debris and corpses, which meant Hiruhiko’s self-destructive gambit failed miserably, much to Hiruhiko’s displeasure.
Now, to make sure Hiruhiko was not an illusion, Samura prepares to take on Hiruhiko while Chihiro appears from behind, his Enten ready to go.
How will this go?
Will Samura and Chihiro clash again or will the two work together to finish off the now utterly humiliated Hiruhiko?
Samura’s Suzaku is based on the East Asian fire bird of the same name but the Suzaku and Phoenix are very different animals in Eastern mythology.
Unlike the western version, the Feng Huang or Chinese Phoenix is not a fire bird while the Vermillion bird is.
The Eastern Phoenix is all about being reborn from death while the Suzaku is an immortal bird that can never die.
The Suzaku is more like the familiar Western Phoenix, which is strange but unlike the Western take, the Suzaku does not undergo death but is an immortal being that guides souls to the afterlife.
Some on Reddit have theorized that this means that Suzaku’s true power allows Samura to keep fighting after death.
However, Phoenix was something Samura used during the Seitei War, back when he was still alive.
Unless the hanging images are of Samura himself than of his fear of what would happen to his daughter, then the theory would not work.
Nonetheless, there are signs that using an immortality ability will have a cost as he is still in the Suzaku state and that seems to be keeping him alive.
Samura suffered grievous wounds in the last chapter, which forced him to activate the Suzaku to keep fighting.
Perhaps when Samura is exhausted of Spiritual Energy, he will collapse and die, the Suzaku leaving Samura’s body to take his soul to the afterlife.
