After a lengthy holiday break, One Piece is back!

In the previous One Piece chapter, we see the Holy Knights, the woman and Shanks’ twin, take down some Giants as they look for Loki.

Now we see the outcome of theri search

One Piece Chapter 1136 is titled, “Land Awaiting the Sun.”

We enter Volume 22 of “Ogre Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage” where Holdem leads Yamato and the rest to his base.

In this chapter, we learn more about the lore of Elbaph, specifically of the Sun God Nika.

Some giants believe that the Sun God will be a liberator but others think he will be a destroyer.

Notice the usage of the future tense.

Will? Does this mean that they believe that man create gods within time itself? Or is the Sun God a Messiah like in real-life Christianity, where the Second Coming of Jesus is associated with both liberation and destruction.

In Naruto, the holder of the Rinnegan, even its origin, the Sage of Six Paths, is said to be both creator and destroyer.

The Fishman Island Arc also still has the prophecy of Luffy destroying the Ryugu Kingdom, even though that was averted because Luffy instead stopped the fall of Noah.

The Giants also discuss the story of Loki and King Harald, and here we learn that the man who stopped Loki 6 years ago was Red Hair Shanks.

Yes, this confirms what most people have figured out, that Shanks was responsible for Loki’s downfall and it could be how he became a Yonko.

One Piece: How Did Shanks Become a Yonko?

Funnily enough, it is Zoro who has the initiative to help free Loki as he has Luffy and Nami get the key that would free Loki from his chains.

In the Underworld, we see the two hooded figures face Loki at long last.

As it turns out, the Holy Knights want Loki to join their side but naturally, Loki refuses.

The hooded woman is identified as Gunko and she is a member of the Holy Knights.

We still do not see hooded “Shanks” move or speak.

It would be interesting if Loki noticed.

We learn some of Gunko’s powers, mainly that she wields long bandage-like sleeves.

Seeing Loki’s rejection, Gunko prepares to kill Loki the same way she did the other Giants last chapter.

A giant wolf, likely inspired by Fenrir, comes by and tries to save Loki.

Once again, Loki rejects the Holy Knights’ offer and so Gunko kills the wolf.

Shame that this wolf did not bite off fake Shanks’ arm like in Tyr and Fenrir in Norse myth (or the real shanks in Chapter 1: “Romance Dawn”).

Loki then states that inside of him…no, not two wolves.

He feels the rage of the death of his wolf friend, however and it motivates him more to destroy the world.

This once again deepens the mystery of Loki’s devil fruit now that we have all this talk of Joyboy being a liberator or destroyer, since Luffy is the former but Loki claims he is the latter and insists of being the Sun God too.

Are there two Joyboys?

Are there two Model Nika fruits or is Loki a different god?

There will be NO BREAK next week.

One Piece Chapter 1137 will be released on January 26, 2024.
