Is Scopper Gaban the Man Marked By Flames? One Piece Chapter 1139 Full Spoilers!!
We told you guys! Gaban was the man Crocus drank with in Chapter 631 and all the clues on this chapter suggest he might be the man marked by flames.

In the previous One Piece chapter, we see Shamrock’s Cerberus sword take care of Loki as God’s Knights head out to kidnap some Giant children to make Elbaph submit to the World Government. At the same time, Franky discovers the Treasure Tree Adam Mural and Robin in the library reads out the incredibly important Harley poem that reveals the full truth of the Void Century.
One Piece Chapter 1139 is titled, “Mountain Eater”
This chapter has 13 pages.
We enter Volume 25 of the cover story, “Ogre Child Yamato’s Golden Harvest Surrogate Pilgrimage” where we see two shadowy figures brought before Who’s Who, who draws his katana to punish them. Given their distinct horns, they appear to be his fellow Tobironpo, Page One and his older sister Ulti, who were defeated by Big Mom and Nami respectively during the Onigashima Raid in Chapter 1011: “The Code of Anko” and Chapter 1016: “This is O-Tama”.
The chapter begins with Luffy and his group in Aurust Castle looking for Loki’s key but the Giant guards there do not know where it is and the entire castle is quite big, making for a tough search.
They end up in the throne room and notice a hole on the ceiling.
There was also a huge magic circle on the floor, which Nami recognizes as something used for rituals to summon demons.
Road is surprised that something like this was in the royal chamber and felt the heebie-jeebies.
Luffy has seen this before but could not figure out where.
He would have seen them when he faced off against all five of the Elders.
Suddenly, a voice calls out to them, which Luffy mistakes for a demon at first but Nami dismisses the existence of demons.
Yes Nami is right but also no.
Yes because like gods, demons could be fictional constructs but also no because just as someone prayed for a god like Sun God Nika, others feared demons so strongly they created the nightmarish demons the Gorosei would become.
As Road thinks if the voice came from the dead, suddenly a giant axe was thrown at Road, who barely dodges it but this results in Road letting the Straw Hats fall from his hand.
Luffy and Zoro jump from Road’s hands and Luffy grabs Nami before she hits the group.
Luffy entrusts Nami to Zoro, who picks Nami up in his arms.
Live-action Nami and Zoro have this chemistry.
We see that sitting on the empty throne
No, it is not Imu.
It is the mysterious man walking around Elbaph since Chapter 1132: “Adventure in Elbaph” where his presence stirred the giant wildlife.
Road actually recognizes the figure as “Ya-san”
The presentation box labels him as: “Ya-san” – Human inhabitant of Elbaph (former pirate).
The man explains that he sensed an abnormal Haki in the castle earlier but it is not here anymore.
This somewhat confirms that the Magic Circles are related to Haki as they did emit black sparks when the Gorosei emerged in their yokai forms.
That or Ya-san sensed the Haki of Shamrock and Gunko, who just left the area.
Instead, Ya-san found the Straw Hats and Road.
Ya-san had also learned of Luffy’s victory over Kaido and has made him want to travel to Wano Country after all these years.
We now see Ya-san’s full form
And everyone guessed it right:
The silhouette has been none other than Scopper Gaban of the Roger Pirates.
Ya-san has the same long spiky hair and wears the same sunglasses we already saw in Oden’s flashback, but he has now big long beard (with a braid) and a scar in his forehead that has a shape similar to a “flame”.
Gaban has a mark/scar similar to this one over his right eye (running from the side of his eye to his forehead)
Not 100% confirmed that this is the burned scar man

Could this flame mean that Gaban is actually the man marked by flames, the one carrying the final Road Poneglyph?
Perhaps this is just a simple tattoo and many people do have tattoos of unique patterns.
But Gaban is in a unique position as one of the few to see Laugh Tale.
He wears a Hawaiian shirt and shorts too, which indicates that Scopper Gaban’s new look is inspired by Master Roshi from Dragon Ball, known for his age, Hawaiian shirt and perversion.
It is also timely considering Akira Toriyama’s passing last year and Oda’s immense respect for the legendary author.
Road explains that Ya-san is Ripley’s partner and Colon’s father
Nami asks how is that possible.
Nami asking the real questions considering how particularly massive the beautiful Ripley is.
Ya-san comes down from the throne and speaks to them.
Here, Gaban makes a speech about how love is freedom and that races have always mixed more than a few times throughout history.
He names different hybrids: the Buccaneers (giant-human hybrids), the Wotan (giant-fishman hybrid), the Long Leg-Long Neck tribe, and a new race called the Dosundada, which sounds hammer-related from the Japanese word “dosun”.
Seems that Gaban forgot the Long Arm tribe since the Long Leg and the Long Neck or Snakeneck Tribes were established throughout the story.
Zoro notes that Gaban seems to know a lot and Gaban introduces himself as the “missionary of love”.
Luffy remarks that Gaban might be what Sanji ends up being in the future and mentions that they are looking for Loki’s key.
Road is surprised by Luffy’s straightforwardness and lack of tact.
Perhaps Gaban has been travelling around to experience love from other tribes himself but he does seem settled with his Giant wife and son.
Although Gaban likes pranks and causing trouble, even he knows freeing Loki is the worst case scenario but Luffy assures him that he can beat up Loki if he tries anything and put away the key again.
Gaban explains that before Shanks subdued Loki, no one was able to really stop him and Luffy does not know what power Loki has or the damage he can cause.
Of course, Luffy and Zoro ignore this as Gaban was talking for too long and heads out, which Road apologizes for.
Although shocked at first by this refusal, Gaban does smile, recalling his days with the Roger Pirates.
We see a flashback of the original Monster Trio: Roger, Rayleigh and Gaban.
Roger, like Luffy, would not listen to any warnings and thinks his friends are scared.
Both Rayleigh and Gaban, like Zoro and Sanji respectively, deny this.
Gaban tells Roger that it is important to know the risks.
In the present, Gaban tells Road to just push the throne.
The Left Arm of the Pirate King
Back in the party at West Village, Oimo talks to Usopp and the rest about Ya-san.
Among the Roger Pirates, outside their captain, the Pirate King, there were two that were stronger than the rest, someone else besides Rayleigh, whom the Straw Hats first met on Sabaody Archipelago.
Oimo tells them the story of how Gaban took Roger for treatment in a hospital in the middle of the mountains. Unfortunately the hospital was surrounded by enemy pirates but that man alone defeated hundreds of enemies with just his two axes.
After the battle, not a single tree was left standing, hence his epithet: “Mountain Eater”.
In the last double-paged spread of the chapter, we return to Aurust Castle where Road brings Luffy and the rest down the steps of the passage beneath the throne of King Harald.
Underneath the throne was a treasure room, much to Nami’s delight.
However, all the treasure is gone, except for one key.
Gaban tells them not to blame him for this loss as thieves do come and go.
Luffy sees the key and Gaban remarks that it is something not even thieves want.
Before Luffy gets the key, Gaban jumps near it and he takes off his robe and kasa hat.
Gaban says that the “Liberation of Loki” is something even the villains would not desire.
We return to the village party, where Oimo and Kashii finish telling the story.
They explain that Gaban has been living on Elbaph for over 20 years and is a legendary figure equal to Roger and Rayleigh.
The chapter ends with Gaban holding the key and daring Luffy to a fight.
Luffy now faces the left arm of the Pirate King, Scopper Gaban!
