Shin Was Made in a Lab? Sakamoto Days Chapter 196 Spoilers!!
We might learn about how espers in Sakamoto Days are formed now that Shin turns out to be an experiment by the JAA labs.
In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Sakamoto stalls Torres and lets Heisuke handle him while he stops Shin from killing Tenkyu, which leads into a flashback where Sakamoto first meets Shin.
Day 196 is titled, “Encounter”
This chapter is 19 pages.
We begin the chapter with the panels of young Sakamoto and Shin meeting for the first time.
One of Shin’s captors tries to get Shin to confess about his reason for lurking around the area and another man orders Sakamoto to kill Shin.
Shin panics as after four years of running from the lab, he was close to finding a clue to a certain someone.
While panicking, Shin notices that it is odd for assassins to carry weapons.
Shin reads the thoughts of the men around him, talking about their weapons and preferences: a Glock 17, knives, and a taser.
Sakamoto’s thoughts mention that he did not bring a weapon today, which leads to Shin pointing a knife on his neck, a knife Shin swiped from the bald man.
Suddenly, Sakamoto pulls Shin’s hair, causing him to get stabbed in the neck instead.
Sakamoto is surprised, saying he did not do anything at all.
With the others assuming Shin is dead, Sakamoto carries Shin’s body and asks for a body bag
Nagumo converses with Sakamoto over the phone, with Sakamoto saying that the infiltration was a success.
Nagumo then goes on to talk about Shishiba’s dislike of onions, which Nagumo makes fun over when he secretly added some Chaliapin sauce to his food, and Shihiba threw up immediately.
Note: Chaliapin sauce is a Japanese-origin sauce that uses onions as a main ingredient.
Sakamoto says that his target is a former member of the JAA, accused of leaking confidential information hiding in the city.
It seems like Sakamoto infiltrated various gangs and one of those gangs found Shin by chance.
We cut back to Shin being tied up by Sakamoto as we see that both were on top of a building, with Shin surprised that he survived.
Sakamoto asks Shin why the latter chose to attack him, to which Shin says that Sakamoto lacked a weapon and brags about reading Sakamoto’s mind.
Shin thinks Sakamoto is scared since people are normally disgusted when they learn of Shin’s telepathy but he is surprised that Sakamoto is totally unfazed.
This makes Shin upset but Sakamoto simply tells him to go to the police for protection, since the world of assassins sees many kids die early.
Shin tells Sakamoto that he is looking for someone.
Shin has been alone since he was 6 and almost died countless times
Sakamoto’s lack of response annoys Shin, which moves him to grab the attention of the gangsters looking for him.
With that distraction, Shin runs off, checking the documents from the lab he escaped from as he looks for a man named Ando Otasuko, who left him 13 years ago, which makes Shin conclude that Ando is his real father.
Shin recalls how people did not accept him because he does not have any blood connection to his adopted father Asakura.
Back to the present, Shin faces the gangsters, asking if he has any connection to Sakamoto, the man with glasses.
Before the gang takes Shin away, Sakamoto jumps down on a car roof, breaking the car with sheer strength.
Sakamoto mentally tells Shin to get down and throws car wheels at the gangsters, which confirms to Sakamoto that Shin can read minds.
Sakamoto takes off his coat and wraps it around his hand to interrogate the survivor.
Sakamoto asks if they know Ando Otasuko, the former researcher at the J.A.A.?
Hearing his father’s name, Shin tells Sakamoto to stop and proposes to Sakamoto that they work together, planning to use him to find the man Sakamoto intends to kill.
So, we learn that Shin might have gained his powers from a JAA lab and his father is a researcher.
Let us see where this goes.
