In the previous Sakamoto Days chapter, Sakamoto wins the battle of the cruise water park against Ikari, Ando’s friend.

Sakamoto Days Chapter 201 is titled, “Too Late”

This chapter has 15 pages.

Editor’s note: “Searching for Shin’s father and uncovering the deep roots of their past”

The chapter begins with Ikari angry at being humiliated by Sakamoto in front of Ando.

Sakamoto finds his remark disgusting.

Bro, is Taro Sakamoto homophobic or is he disgusted by how desperate of a simp Ikari is?

Recalling how Ando pointed a gun at him, Shin decides to do the same to his father.

Ikari tells Sakamoto to stop Shin and Sakamoto warns Shin that killing Ando will set the bomb off.

Seeing his father for the scum that he is, Shin angrily says that he was a fool for expecting kindness from his own father after threatening to kill him.

Ando taunts Shin about the causalities if Shin kills Ando, even mentioning Shin’s adopted father Asakura, which pushes him to nearly pull the trigger.

Yet it was Ikari’s panic that made Shin look and not see that he did shoot Ando.

As it turns out, Shin did not want to kill Ando at all but demand an apology at gunpoint.

In anger, Ikari rushes to kill Shin.

Lying in blood, Ando laments how his plans to escape the JAA were foiled because of the son he saved 13 years ago now coming to undermine his escape and now wishes that he let Shin die back then.

However, just as Ikari was about to throw the anchor to kill Shin, Ando takes hold of Shin and lets the anchor hit him instead while Sakamoto puts Ikari down.

Shocked by this, Shin asks Ando why he saved him, to which Ando wondered if his heart wavered again, showing that there really was love for his son in his heart.

Ando stands up, covering the gunshot wound, saying that it was the right choice to smuggle him out of the Orphanage as Shin grew up with terrible aim.

The wound was not fatal but Ikari’s anchor sure was.

Ando looks at Shin, who is likely reading these thoughts, and says that Shin has grown strong before collapsing to his death.

Shin cries, wondering why Ando did not just say that out loud.

However, Sakamoto remarks that Ando is still alive but Shin has to stop the bleeding.

Sakamoto reminds Shin of their job, to defuse the bomb and save the passengers while Ando is still alive.

Shin says he will join Sakamoto as the engine room is still too big for him to find the bomb in time.

However, Sakamoto tells Shin to stay in his father’s last moments.

Saying that he refuses to die, Ando tells Shin where the bomb is and orders him to follow Sakamoto.

Shin in this flashback has been disregarding the bigger picture, too angry to see he will be heading to a downward spiral but he has a right to be angry with how his father seemingly threw all love away.

This flashback explains Shin’s position with Tenkyu, the desire to kill the unforgivable to protect loved ones.

Yet it was written well by Suzuki because it was specifically in a situation where Shin must not kill Ando that Shin adopts this sad position.

Even if he did not mean to kill Ando in this emotional moment, in the end, that was where it was bound to be.

Ando will stay alive until Shin defuses the bomb but how will this flashback end for Shin and Sakamoto?

Editor’s note: “A moment of understanding amidst confusion.”

Sakamoto Days Chapter 202 will be released on February 24, 2025.
