LONGEST BLEACH EPISODE? Haschwalth vs Bazz-B! What to Expect During Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 38!
This will be Bleach’s longest episode and it might be the peak of the already amazing Cour 3, with Haschwalth vs Bazz-B looking to be the next Kakashi vs Obito.
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 38 is titled, “Friend”.
This is the title of Volume 70 of the Bleach manga and will cover Chapter 630: “Twinned Twilight” to Chapter 634: “Friend 3” and based on the preview images, we will see the episode exclusively focused on the “Friend” content.

The preview images show shots of the present battle between Bazz-B and Jugram Haschwalth.
We see the youth of Haschwalth and Bazz-B, with Bazz-B showing off his “greater power” through a Spirit Crossbow while Haschwalth is unable to form his own Spirit Weapon.
We also see young Yhwach, who has the Almighty at this time, with indications of more content connected to Yhwach’s past.
We only saw one scene from exclusively Yhwach’s perspective, namely the formation of the Sternritter 1,000 years ago.

Dali Chen returns to the director seat after his amazing work in Episode 33: “Gate of the Sun”, an action-packed thriller with some of the best animation Pierrot has offered.
Dali Chen has already directed for Bleach Thousand Year Blood War, specifically for Cour 2 with Episode 19: “The White Haze”, and Episode 26: “Black” but “Gate of the Sun” is his standout.
Toshiyuki Tsuru returns after storyboarding Episode 7: “Born in the Dark”, one of the greatest episodes of the Bleach anime.
Tsuru himself is known for his work in many Naruto movies and numerous openings.
With the dark emotions of Episode 7 and the action direction contained in Episode 33, we might have yet another banger in the works.
The following will work as key animators for the episode:

What to Expect
The episode will adapt the entirety of the four “Friend” chapters while adding new scenes to the flashback and the fight.
It has been confirmed that the episode will exclusively focus on “Friend”, rather than move to the remaining content, including Yhwach dealing with the Bambies.
The episode is entirely focused on a friend and nothing else

After this point, Bleach only has 40 chapters left to adapt.
Episode Length
This includes the VIZ logo and the post-poem scenes. With everything, this episode would be 26+ minutes long. It’s the longest episode, as I said no need to fact-check me. https://t.co/mKFrC1ENaH
— BBSHero هيرو (@BBSHER0) December 18, 2024
An unusual case here, this Bleach episode will be the longest one ever made, including from the original anime
There will still be an Opening and Ending song taking up 3 minutes total but the total runtime is confirmed to be close to 26 minutes (25:23 to be precise) instead of the normal 24 minutes.
This means that the episode, which will adapt 4.5 chapters worth of content, will have enough space for both manga content and anime-original content to breathe.
Bazz-B vs Jugram Haschwalth
Based on some leaks, this battle will be inspired by Kakashi vs Obito from Naruto Shippuden Episode 375 that aired on September 4, 2014, ten years ago.
We see the scene where young Haschwalth grabs the arrow Bazz-B shot towards Yhwach 1,000 years ago, which funnily enough is exactly what happens in the manga as well, specifically in Chapter 633: “Friend 3”, in the scene where Haschwalth mortally wounds Bazz-B.
Of note, the chapter for the fight between Kakashi and Obito is 636, which is very close to the chapter number for this moment too.
This leaves the question of how far they can go with this, whether they will merge the flashbacks even more extensively like Naruto Shippuden did, which was emphasized through adult Obito pushing away his younger self from making the Seal of Reconciliation with Kakashi in the flashback fight.
NEW FLASHBACK SCENES
The flashback will be quite extensive as we see scenes of Bazz-B and Jugram Haschwalth training through varied seasons, with a shot of Haschwalth training with his sword in the snow.

Soundscape of Ardor makes a back-to-back return since last episode to emphasize the emotion of Jugo and Bazz’s broken friendship.
The END of Friend

The episode ends on Bazz-B dying by the stairs of Wahrwelt while Jugram Haschwalth walks away, the former still remembering the promise they made at the start of the flashback.
The episode title, “Friend”, shows, with the “-END” part, highlighted in red, signifying that Haschwalth chose to kill his friend.
Next Episode Poem: Jugram Haschwalth
Befitting the momentum of the episode, it ends with Jugram Haschwalth’s poem:

“There is no pain
as long as I keep
my eyes on the balance scale.”
This is the Volume 70 poem, with the volume covering Chapters 633: “Friend 4” to Chapter 642: “BABY,HOLD YOUR HAND 5 [Eyes Are Open]”.
Haschwalth is the physical manifestation of Bleach’s core theme of balance and how people make decisions based on that, as experienced by antagonists such as Byakuya Kuchiki and the protagonist Ichigo Kurosaki himself when it came to his personal identity.
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Episode 39 will be titled, “The Visible Answer”.
Next episode title is

— BBSHero هيرو (@BBSHER0) December 18, 2024
This is taken from the title of Chapter 660 and will likely cover the events of Chapter 659 until at least Chapter 661: “My Last Words”, likely with major anime revisions to connect all the writing points the anime made for Uryu’s character arc.
This means that we will finally see Uryu Ishida’s true motivations and plan immediately after Haschwalth has finished off his old best friend, which is a perfect thematic contrast because the two men, Haschwalth and Uryu, are built on their difficult choices on the balance scale.
Uryu in this cour has proven his loyalty to Yhwach multiple times, from killing Senjumaru within her own Bankai to his attempts to kill Ichigo and Renji (in both instance, the colors turn black and white, as if signaling the use of Uryu’s Schrift, The Antithesis)
Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War Cour 3 will conclude with an hour-long special, covering two episodes on December 28, 2024.
