Who Will Save Team 7 from the Shinju? Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 19 Full Spoilers!
The current Boruto arc seems to be focused on how love, so will Konohamaru and Sarada save themselves with such power to prove Jura wrong?

In the previous Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter, Amado stops Kawaki from getting his upgrade. Meanwhile in the Sand Village, Araya uses the Lodestone Sand Sealing Blade made from Shinki’s Iron Sand to free Sarada and the team from Ryu while Matsuri captures Konohamaru after the latter rejects her.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 19 is titled, “Konohamaru-chan”
This chapter has 41 pages, including the cover.
We see the colored page cover of Moegi, which was the first sneak peek.
Yellow is the opposite of purple on the color wheel, so the color of each cover shows that Matsuri and Moegi are polar opposites.
The caption reads: “In slumber, shadows yearn.”
Editor’s note: “Long ago, in the days of Araya and Shinki!! The ultimate sword technique, ‘Magnetic Particle Sealing Blade,’ was forged here——!!”
The chapter begins with a flashback of Shinki handing Araya the Lodestone Sand Sealing Blade.
Shinki explains that this blade contains his Magnet Style chakra and can combine with Araya’s Wind Style sword techniques to manipulate the iron sand or magnetite to some extent.
In other words, Araya has a less powerful version of Shinki’s Iron Sand Manipulation jutsu.
The sword appeared normal but once Araya infused his chakra, it turned black like the swords in One Piece infused with Haki.
Araya asks if this is okay to do since with the sword in Araya’s possession, Shinki will not win their sparring matches but Shinki admits it is the perfect handicap for himself.
This signifies that Araya and Shinki see themselves as equals and that Araya is no slouch on the battlefield.
Shinki looks down and sees Yodo speaking to Gaara and Kankuro as he says that he wants to hone his skills for the sake of his adopted father, Gaara.
Interesting that Araya calls Gaara “Shinki’s father” but not his own, indicating that unlike the original Sand Siblings, who were biological siblings, Shinki’s team is not made of his adopted siblings.
Page 3 is where we get the second sneak peek that, without context, looked like Araya being outed for his strong feelings for Yodo but it is not quite like that.
So we now have a bit more context, as just as Shinki is more obsessed with his adopted father Gaara (as Kawaki was with his adopted father, Naruto), Araya is more fixated on Yodo.
Each of the Sand Trio has someone they want to protect, which is a recurring theme in the Naruto franchise.
We return to the fight as Araya mentally denies that it is nothing like that, which does have a somewhat romantic undertone, especially considering that the current arc is focused on the feelings of Sarada and Sumire towards Boruto, Eida towards Kawaki, and Matsuri and Moegi, who are essentially the same person, towards Konohamaru.
Mitsuki is freed from Ryu’s Iron Sand and thanks Araya but Araya says to thank Shinki when they rescue him.
Araya orders the Leaf ninja to attack Ryu while Araya takes care of the Iron Sand.
Motivated to fight them now, Ryu unleashes a large wave of Iron Sand that Araya repels with the Lodestone Sand Sealing Blade
Yodo calls out to Araya’s 7 o’clock, allowing the latter to counter the Iron Sand before it reaches him.
Ryu remarks that saying something out loud has impact, even though it is referring to communication between teammates rather than a commentary on naming anime attacks.
Sarada unleashes a Fire Style: Fire Ball Jutsu but that gets shielded immediately with Iron Sand, which is the opening Mitsuki, in Sage Mode, uses to wrap Ryu with his giant snakes.
Mitsuki then orders the snakes to kill Ryu but instead, they hurt each other as it turns out that Ryu escaped by turning his entire body into Iron Sand
Araya warns the Leaf duo to be careful as the Iron Sand will control them like in the last chapter and Yodo uses her sharp hearing to detect the faint sound of sand moving at their 2 o’clock direction.
By pointing with his blade, Araya gathers the iron sand in that direction, bringing out Ryu, who reforms his body.
Mitsuki’s giant snakes catch him again, this time biting hard on him.
Before Ryu could fully turn into Iron Sand, with her Sharingan activated, Sarada charges towards him with her Chidori but instead, Ryu turns into Iron Sand again.
We return to Matsuri and Konohamaru’s “date” going quite wrong as Konohamaru is wrapped in her tendrils while Matsuri is mad that it seems that Konohamaru is only comfortable when Moegi calls him “Konohamaru-chan”.
Konoahmaru says he does not need a reason to not like something but Matsuri argues that Konohamaru is being selfish.
Matsuri’s head is attached to her tendrils
Eida watches this romantic subplot and comments on how the issue is not the fact that Matsuri insists on a name to call Konohamaru but the relationship and it seems that what Konohamaru is concerned about is his relationship with Moegi, which makes their feelings a lot more subtle, rather than unexpressed.
From his hideout, Koji asks Eida what is happening and Eida reveals to Koji and Boruto that while Sarada and the others are fine, Konohamaru is in big trouble since he made Matsuri mad enough to attempt to eat him alive.
Eida notes that even though Sarada and the rest are putting up a good fight, they are unsure of what will happen next.
Boruto attempts to go out but Koji tells him not to act now, which frustrates him.
Even the plot of Boruto is holding back Boruto from any action.
In the Shinju’s hideout, Jura explains to Mamushi that life should ideally move towards its goal of evolution, purely driven by instinct.
This sort of evokes the Sarada one-shot villain, Shin’s whole deal, about humans needing conflict to evolve and thus his Walmart Akatsuki made up of his clones.
Jura says that because of human’s social nature, they limit their potential with the restraint called “reason” and thus cloud their instinct to seek evolution.
This is seen as a drawback from gaining more intelligence, unlike the sentient Shinju who lack this fatal flaw and remain true to their instincts.
Mamushi thinks that because of their own nature, human flaws have nothing to do with them.
However, Jura notes that this weakness has more layers as the concept of love affects them.
Going back to Konohamaru, Matsuri expresses frustration with the feelings she has for Konohamaru, so she resolves to devour him
Going back to Jura, he mentions how the Ino-Shika-Cho team are effective but they prioritized Himawari’s safety over the team, even while they were aware of how foolish such a measure would be.
Jura still thinks that Inojin was killed by him for needlessly risking his life for Himawari.
So Jura resolves that the Shinju must understood the concept of love in order to overcome it, which is what Matsuri is trying to do by consuming her target, Konohamaru-chan.
Back to the Ryu fight, Araya once again tries to counter Ryu’s ability to turn his body into Iron Sand.
Ryu’s body reforms and summons a horde of Claw Grimes from his cloth, showing that Code’s Claw Marks still retain their teleportation feature without Code’s input.
Sage Mode Mitsuki uses his snakes and Sarada uses her Fire Style: Phoenix Flower Jutsu to attack the Claw Grimes but there are too many of them.
Yodo is in danger of being consumed by a Claw Grime and made into a sentient Shinju just like Shinki became Ryu so Araya uses the Lodestone Sand Sealing Blade to attack the Claw Grime but the blade gets stuck on the monster
Ryu uses this opportunity to remove Araya’s blade by teleporting the Claw Grime that took it back to their hideout and he declares that the team has no way to defend against his Iron Sand.
The chapter ends with Matsuri still attempting to devour Konohamaru as she says that it is time to “become one, Konohamaru-chan”, which is where the episode title comes from.
Things now take a horrific turn for Konohamaru as the most emotional of the Shinju might be the most unstable as she gets her chance to consume her target.
The next chapter might show us that Konohamaru has learned some new jutsu and has grown stronger since the timeskip, which would expected now that we are 20 chapters in.
Although Ryu’s fight started with a massive advantage, without Araya’s Lodestone Sand Sealing Blade, they cannot stop the Iron Sand.
Sage Mode Mitsuki is strong but he could not do it all on his own.
Perhaps we will see Sarada’s Mangekyo Sharingan in action?
After all, this is an arc about love.
Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 20 will be released on March 20, 2025 and will be the last chapter of Volume 5.
